Joanne Barbour

Joanne brings extensive experience across public practice and commercial environments, with a career spanning more than three decades in taxation, business advisory, and strategic services. She began her career in 1993 as a new graduate with a Chartered Accounting firm in Claremont, gaining a strong foundation in tax and business services.

After three years in practice and completing her Chartered Accountant qualifications, Joanne moved to London, where she broadened her commercial expertise through contract roles with UBS in the banking sector, Northcliffe Newspaper Group, and Dorling Kindersley in publishing. Her three years overseas provided valuable insight into large‑scale financial, operational, and commercial environments across multiple industries.

Returning to Australia, Joanne joined Insight in 2002 and quickly became an integral part of the team. She developed deep capability in tax and business services across a diverse portfolio of clients and industry groups. After more than a decade of contribution to the firm, Joanne was appointed Principal on 1 July 2013.

Joanne has a strong technical taxation background and is known for her collaborative, practical approach to helping clients grow their businesses and navigate complex financial decisions. She works closely with her portfolio of clients to deliver tailored, commercially grounded advice that supports long-term success.

Joanne’s leadership philosophy centres on fostering a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and shared ambition within her team. She is passionate about supporting and empowering others to grow, encouraging collaboration and accountability to achieve collective success. Outside of work, Joanne enjoys spending time with her two children and, during the AFL season, can often be found at Optus Stadium cheering on the West Coast Eagles.
